HISTORICAL RELATIONSHIPS. 1991. HIRST’S FIRST EVER OBJECT MULTIPLE.

£2,950.00

London: ICA, 1991
7.5 (dia) x 17.5cm card tube with printed label content of a mixed-media sculptural multiple (ping pong ball, glass and instruction leaflet as issued). Signed and numbered by the artist. First issue of this first object-multiple by the enfant terrible representative of the new (now not so young) British art scene. A much more conceptual item than perhaps later works, the inclusion of ping pong ball as element links to some of his breakthrough works of skeletons with ping pong ball eyes and airbourn balls although an objective reading of the work would hint at a conceptual metaphor for human interaction. Edition of 125 examples signed and numbered by Hirst. Fine estate – although the ping pong ball is slightly yellowed through age. Very hard to find.
