Original price was: £495.00.Current price is: £445.50.

N.p. [Madison?]: William Weege, ca. 1967. Original silkscreen print, ca.
180 x 75cm, huge silkscreen print in two shades of blue and red on kraft-paper stock. Created by the avant-pop painter and printmaker, who was sometimes affiliated with Roy Lichtenstein (with whom he participated in a two-person show in 1969) this is a political work where a sexually alluring Amazonic woman with a sword in boots is standing on a Nazi flag in front of an American Flag. Weege, a long-time professor of art at the University of Wisconsin, exhibited his art widely and has works in many museum collections throughout the United States including the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Detroit Institute of Art; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Brooklyn Museum of Art; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. This work is striking and is titled bottom left in pencil and signed and marked “A/P” on the right also in pencil.
This poster is damaged with paper loss top left and two tears which could easily be repaired and hidden if framed – but it is substantial and a desirable vintage work.
