31 x 22cm, unpaginated (75 original silkscreens on brown paper) plus boards. Artist’s book which celebrated the culture and people of the rural city of Foggia (which is in the relatively poor Southern part of Italy where Beuys had been stationed as a German combatant during the war.
The title translates as “People are wonderful in Foggia” but additionally the book is a documentation of the artist’s performance works from 1964 until 1974 – each page having a tipped on text about a work apart from the second last page which is a letterhead for the Organisation for Direct Democracy. The book is ultimately a political work calling for a socialist political movement with a significant green tinge.
