Antwerpen: Wide White Space, 1972
157.8 x 24cm, 4pp. The announcement for the important film and screen edition by Marcel Broodthaers with images on the front from the film and internally details of the contents.
JOINT AS ISSUED:
24 x 17.8cm, 2pp – two texts on Broodthaers by Otton Hahn and Jean Dypreau; the former claining that “Marcel broodthaers is the most “pop” of Belgium artists.
Increasingly a rare item and all the more important as part of the documentation that came out of the Wide White Space Gallery which was run by the (entirely delightful and lovely) Anne de Dekker.
A short anecdote – when we visited Anne a decade ago she gave coffee in her lounge which contained a glass cabinet full of egg works by Broodthaers on display much like a Scottish granny might have fine china plates. The eggs were starting to deteriorate. On asking Anne indicated that she didn’t mind the eggs breaking and the works becoming unrecognisable – “they should return to nature” she stated deadpan. Fine condition.
