ZEHN HANDZEICHNUNGEN MIT EINEM BEGLEITWORT. 1922.

£3,500.00

Wien: Rikola, 1922

A posthumous portfolio of ten full-sheet collotype reproductions after drawings by Gustav Klimt, published only 4 years after the symbolist and Vienna Seccionist died. The works here are some of his nude studies for which he became famous.

Issued by Rikola Verlag, with an introductory text by Gustav Glück.

The plates were printed in fine collotype (Lichtdruck) by the atelier of Max Jaffe, Vienna – one of the most respected photomechanical printers of the period.

Oversized brown folder (48 × 30 cm) with tipped-on cloth title label. This example includes a pasted facsimile of Klimt’s stylised signature on the front cover — likely a later addition.

Ten plates loose as issued, with colophon. A torn ex-libris label inside the portfolio cover and some marks to the outer cards as well as some wear to the edges of the spine and corners are somewhat insignificant flaws otherwise this is very good example. A scarce, nearly contemporary, document of this important figure in art history.
