UNTITLED (TV). 1981. HAND MADE CARDBOARD TV IN PAINTED WOODEN BOX. UNIQUE SIGNED WORK.

9.5 x 9.5x 9.5cm hand painted wooden box containing a cardboard hand painted crude model of a television screen which seems to have a abstract face on the “screen” and a small label with “Paik”. The other side of the cardboard has some colour paint on it.

The box has “For Charles” painted on one side and on another another perhaps TV image.

The box has been sealed with nails before and has been opened with a couple of nails still in situ on the lid and main box. The box has been repurposed by Paik at some point and has wear and small chips along edges and lid. The lid has become detached from the nails which allowed it to be pivoted from one edge but could be easily be repaired.

Provenance: originally collection François Norguet Paris. Bought 1995 to Francois Norguet by Librairie Henri Lafitte from an unidentified person “Charles”.
