Chicago: Briar Street Theatre, 2003
21 x 15cm, 32pp (self covers). Standard theatre playbill format for this performance by the group – who originally were a single theatre act but had realised the commercial potential of the (admittedly) entertaining stage show and by now were performing simultaneously in New York, Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas. Stealing outrageously from the history of art one can see within the show at this stage aktionism, abstract expressionism and the work of Yves Klein (perhaps most obviously – after all the stage pancake makeup is more or less International Klein Blue and at one point an audience member is painted in blue and smashed upside down against a canvas to make a faux painting). As usual such playbills are poor value in terms of content but there are cast member details, biographies, etc amidst the otherwise dull articles and adverts. Fine.
JOINT:
21 x 15cm, 1pp xerox as issued promotional leaflet for the Blue Man Group “The complex rock tour”. Fine.
