UNTITLED (FIRENZE SOGNA…). 1969. BROKEN RECORD SIGNED BY CHIARI.

Appropriated standard 33 rpm LP in original sleeve which has been deliberately broken by the Fluxus artist Chiari. The original record was Firenze Sogna... a compilation of Florentine music made in the 60s. The cover of the record is torn and over-written in pen and the broken vinyl has parts missing and has been deliberately scored on the record itself. Signed in the middle of the sleeve, this was reglued to a backing sheet in 2003 in order to be exhibited. Provenance: from the archive of the minimalist musician Paolo Coteni given to Jan Van Toorn in 2010. Coteni was a close friend of Chiari. Condition as might be expected from a destroyed record and sleeve. Unique.

21.7 x 15.1cm, double sided original painting utilising black and grey paint on card that has had thin paper added to its surface after being wet and dried to create an unusual three dimensional texture. The work is unsigned but came from a close friend of Saito's in Germany. Unique and VG++ condition.

21 x 14.8cm, 1pp original painting utilising brown paint, ink/graphite and white blank out fluid. The bowler hat was a common motif used by Saito. The painting here is unique but also on semi-transparent paper. The work is signed bottom left in pencil by Saito and dated 1995.

36 x 24.5cm, single sheet of cartridge paper which has had a brownstain added to it and the title of the work overwritten "Tantopecanta" by Chiari. At the bottom of the work the artist has signed very clearly in felt tipped ink. The title has two meanings - "just to sing" ( after a famous 1970s Roman dialect song written by Ettore Petrolini and Alberto Simeoni,) and "residue". Unique work in a series of similar late paintings. VG+.

23.5 x 16.5cm, 122pp plus card covers. Exhibition catalogue for a solo show of works with an essay in German by Manfred Schmalriede and three colour images of works and 36 b/w images.

This catalogue has and original self-portrait by Roth of him sitting (created from a b/w photo-portrait of himself in the book) on the first title page along with a little hand written note based on abbreviations.

>42 x 30cm, b/w xerox print - displaying a design by the Fluxus artist which is clearly inspired by the wonderful architecture of Koln cathedral. This poster was displayed during an exhibition at Galerie A in Amsterdam in 1986 and Hansen has signed and dated it in ink bottom right. The poster has been folded for storage but other than some waviness often found in large xerox prints it is in very good condition. Probably unique.

10.5 xx 15cm, commercial blank cream postcard with a detailed note from Saito to the curator Gualco inviting Gualco to a performance in Zurich. The card has many other small additions but there is a hand printed bowler hat which Saito has added to to create a small portrait. Hand addressed on the reverse with stamp and franking. Unique mail art.

Commercial TDK audio cassette tape in original jewel plastic case content of music recorded by the Fluxus artist Henning Christiansenat Rannoch Moor. The second of the works "180 HAMMERSTROKES AGAINST WAR MACHINES" consisted of the artist raining sledgehammer blows on a piece of iron while counting from 1 to 180, the first however "IO AM EN VOGEL" translates to I am a bird but the full title is “Il Giardino della Montagna Gialla”, Opus 171. <BR>

This may well be an unique recording of a performance by Henning Christiansen in Scotland. The paper insert with the details of the event is hand-written by Christiansen and is signed with his initials alongside the date. Additional initials are UR and we believe this to be Ursula Reuter Christiansen, Henning's wife and sometime musical partner. This in any even is a very rare item of sound/musical art indeed. VG++.

30 x 24cm b/w gelatin vintage print on heavy paper. The Fluxus artist taking a break during a recording amidst various cables and machines in 1974. Rubber stamp impression of photographer verso and several annotations in pencil. Very good. Limitation unknown possibly unique.

22 x 28cm, 16pp plus wrappers and original original lithograph and original collage dust jacket. Illustrated with 33 works in b/w. Issued as a limited edition catalogue to accompany an exhibit of prints by Robert Motherwell.

The dust jacket unfurls to be an original lithograph / collage by Robert Motherwell ("Untitled" 1974) on the cover, measuring 25 x 81cm completely unfolded including the flaps.

This was one of the edition of 3,975 unsigned copies, with original machine printed lithograph and Gauloises cigarette pack collage. With vertical cover fold as issued, pencil added title on spine and minor age toning to covers, else very good overall condition. Each print/dj is unique in the series.

Scarce despite the huge limitation. A useful reference for the etchings and prints also of the abstract expressionist.

VG+ with minor marks to the lithograph/collage.
