UNTITLED (NONE OF THE BUILDINGS ON SUNSET STRIP). 1997. UNIQUE PHOTO NOT USED IN THE BOOK..

14.5 x 18.8cm, b/w silver gelatine print on Ilford MgIV paper displaying an unused (ie not reproduced in the artist's book "None of the buildings on the Sunset Strip") - an unique photograph. On the rear in Monk's handwriting are the settings for the camera that he used, the word's "Artist's Proof" and the title "NONE OF THE BUILDINGS ON SUNSET STRIP", his signature in ink and the date 1997. One small stain on the reverse and a very small, hard to notice fixative stain on the front but otherwise mint condition and unique. JOINT: A handwritten note from the artist to Paul Robertson explaining the photograph and offering it in part trade for future purchases. The letter is coffee stained on the left hand side due to large-dog-accident (bloody Yuri the first avant guard dog did it, clumsy lump of an animal but much missed).

MEETING #13. 2000.

Paris/London: Galerie Yvon Lambert/Book Works, 2000 10 x 12.5cm, 8pp concertina folded single sheet with one of Monk's meeting works printed on it - suggesting a rendezvous at the Tour de Eiffel on the 13th October 2008. Printed in an edition of 10,000 copies according to the publication. In original printed envelope with the title and name of artist. VG+.

MEETING #61, #62. 2001.

Edinburgh/London: Morningstar/Lisson Gallery, 2001 10 x 10cm, 6pp concertina folded single sheet with two of Monk's meeting works printed on it - suggesting a rendezvous at the "Luxor (main entrance) 3900 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas USA, November 21, 2010, sunset" and on the reverse another meeting with the text in Arabic (which sadly we cannot translate). Printed in an edition of 5,000 copies. VG+.

Karlsruhe: Meyer Riegger Galerie, 2002 21 x 9.9cm, single sheet folded to 12pp which opens to 42 x 29.5cm. Announcement and exhibition poster printed on grey paper which internally notes over a flat sheet of grey that the first public exhibition of Daniel Buren's vertically striped paintings in Paris at the Galerie Fournier in March 1966. This leaflet is signed by Monk on the front in pencil. VG+.

MY HEIGHT IN HB PENCIL. 2002. UNIQUE HAND DRAWN CARD IN A SERIES.

Toronto: Art Metropole, 2002 10.5 x 15cm, 2pp printed b/w postcard with a hand-drawn pencil line by Monk with instructions to "install this postcard on any wall with the pencil line six feet above the floor". A self portrait of the artist of sorts. One of 200 copies of this object multiple which is signed on the reverse in pencil. VG+.

THIS POSTCARD HAS BEEN INFLUENCED BY THE WORK OF JOSEPH KOSUTH. 2003. UNIQUE SIGNED CARD FROM A SERIES WITH ATTACHED HANDWRITTEN POST-IT NOTE.

Copenhagen: Nicolai Wallner, 2003 10.5 x 15cm, 2pp hand made artist's postcard issued during a Danish solo show - each card having a different artist's name rubber stamped underneath the printed text: "This postcard has been influenced by the work of". Here: JOSEPH KOSUTH. The card is signed "JM" on the back and additionally there is an added yellow post-it note added with the text: "Dear Paul, Unique hand stamped postcard never mailed. Signed on reverse. JM>" An unique work with unique added message. VG+. joint: Original hand-addressed envelope sent to Paul Robertson from Jonathan Monk.

PHOTO SOUVENIR (MEXICO CITY). 2003. UNIQUE WORK.

Two colour photographs (both 21 x 29.7cm)) and two 35mm colour slides. Signed certificate with instructions for display: "The two images should not be displayed within the same space. The work can be made in a number of different ways, either both photographs can be show, both slides projected (the projected dimensions are variable) or one photograph and one projection. The owner of the work must decide how the piece is to be installed. For every installation a different rule can be followed. Duplicate slides should not be made. Fading only alters the look of the piece, but not it's intention." The work shows two similar but slightly different images of a lorry being refuelled in a Mexican petrol station. In the background are stripes on a wall which look somewhat like a Daniel Buren stripes work (hence the title "Photo Souvenir - which is a title Buren uses for his photo=documentations of works). An unique work by Monk only ever exhibited in the "Secret Exhibition" show in Edinburgh in 2013 curated by Paul Robertson. VG+.

ONE OF TWO. 2003.

Edinburgh: Show and Tell Editions, 2003 2.5 x 3 x 3cm (approx) wood and rubber stamp  consisting of a reproduced image of the artist's  right thumbprint. One of 65 signed and numbered  (on a certificate) examples from the important  British conceptual artist (and curator) Monk.  Referencing Manzoni (who often stamped works  with his thumbprint), and, perhaps indirectly,  Warhol - the idea of the unique re-made as a  multiple was never before more apposite as here.  Fine condition.

JONATHAN MONK UNTITLED AND UNFINISHED (AFGHANISTAN). 2005. SIGNED BY MONK.

Rome: The British School at Rome, 2005 20 x 14.5cm, folded size. Opens to 42 x 58cm approx. Artist designed exhibition catalogue and poster -b/w photograph of a two Afghanistan mules in a landscape is recto and verso gallery details and a text in Italian and English regarding Monk's debt to Boetti (who is buried in Afghanistan). This copy is unusually signed in pencil on the front cover by Monk.  Fine.

OCEAN WAVE SPECIAL EDITION. #8. 2005. UNIQUE WITHIN A SERIES.

Bremen: Künstlerhaus Bremen, 2005 20.3 x 20.3 x 14cm, two part white box content of an artist's book and an unique glazed coffee mug with a text on the outside - deliberately printed upside down. The book - OCEAN WAVE - is 21 x 15cm, 244pp plus card covers but the cover has been torn off by the artist and replaced inside the book. The book is a physical reminder of Bas Jan Ader's suicidal trip in trying to sail back to Europe single handedly from America as well as films made by Monk where he tried to make beer commercials. The book is entirely designed by the artist and has overlapping images from the films as well as blank pages. The mug has a quotation from a short story about a true life event by Lawrence Elliot called "The Boy Who Plunged Over Niagara": "Deanne, awed by the tumultuous river, which she had seen only once, was reluctant. But with little Roger jumping with glee, and her mother urging her to go along --- "You'll have a chance for a swim at Lynch's later --- Deanne changed into a bathing suit, and the three set out." and is unique to this mug. Other mugs had different quotations from the story on them. It is signed by Monk and dated 2005 on the bottom. The book and the quotation both deal in part with drowning (although the boy and his sister survived the capsize the adult with them did not. And the quotation being upside down means that to read it the mug has to be capsized in some sense also. One presumes Ader drowned after a capsize in the Atlantic as well. This is unique in the series (although the book was released as a separate edition at the exhibition in Bremen. The top of the box is signed and numbered by Monk also. Sadly because of contamination from another Monk work (A box of cheese) with which it was stored temporarily the box has heavy foxing on all sides. But this does not affect the mug or the book.

A small collection of handwritten notes and envelopes written by Monk to Paul Robertson with instructions for the mailing of cards and other short greetings.

YESTERDAY TODAY TOMORROW ETC.. 2006. HAND SIGNED BY MONK.

Hannover: Kunstverein, 2006 26.5 x 22cm, 154pp. Boards with a design by Monk. Exhibition catalogue which is also in part a catalogue raisonne of original and multiple works. Colour illustrations throughout. Designed by Monk. This copy is unusually signed on the back cover of the hardback binding in felt tip pen within the drawing of Monk's hand. Fine.

A WALK PAST STANDING SWIMMING POOLS. 2006.

N.p.: s.p. (Monk), 2006 9 x 6cm, outer folder with tipped in 6pp accordion sheet with five colour images of swimming pool bases being stored on their side with one blank page. The book references both Richard Long's A Walk Past Standing Stones and Ed Ruscha's Nine Swimming Pools and a Glass of Milk (which also has one blank page in it). A visual joke as much as a neo-conceptual work. Slight sealed tear to folder along the bottom else VG+. Scarce.

SECOND HAND. 2006.

London: Lisson Gallery, 2006 Two, 30 x 21cm, 1pp - a gallery hand out for the solo exhibition by Monk and a price list for the works. Both VG+.

CONTACT PRINT (ONE IN A HUNDRED (CHILD). 2007. UNIQUE PHOTOGRAPH WITH WRAPPED SIGNED BOOK.

An unique full colour photographic print - 24 x 31cm - a 6 image contact print from the original photographs used to create the book ONE IN ONE HUNDRED (CHILD). This is signed and dated "Jonathan Monk 2010" in blue ink on the reverse of the photograph. Fine. JOINT Paris: One Star Press, 2007 14 x 22.5cm, 150pp plus card covers. Artist's book which has been hand-wrapped in white semi-transparent paper and scotch tape (by Monk as a deliberate intervention) copy of the title book (which in itself was released by One Star Press in a very small edition of only 250 copies) with the back of the wrapped paper signed in blue ink - the whole being meant to remain unopened and therefore the internal pages unread. The book reproduces 100 times the front cover of the book which in its turn reproduces the cover image from a box of Ilford photographic paper (a stock image of a child). Together Monk has created a means by which the internal aspect of the book can be viewed without disrupting the deliberate wrapping (a la Christo). The book should be displayed (obviously) unopened alongside the contact print. Unique. A gift from the artist to Paul Robertson.

SOMETHING NO LESS IMPORTANT THAN NOTHING. 2008.

Glasgow: Tramway, 2008 30 x 21cm, 1pp press release for the solo exhibition by Monk in the city in which he studied. VG+.

THE COVER OF A BOOK IS THE BEGINNING OF A JOURNEY. 2008. SIGNED BY MONK.

Bristol: Arnolfini, 2008 15 x 10.6cm, folded single sheet of thin card which opens to 42 x 20cm, the inner section shows how the book might be created by folding (with a diecut line in the middle). This book by Monk also acted as the exhibition catalogue for the group show that included "Do It Yourself" works by George Brecht, Douglas Gordon and Monk. This example is signed in red ink by Monk on the last page. VG+.

Berlin: Strausberger Platz 19, 2009 Four offset lithographic posters each 59 x 42cm, that form a whole (7 X 2) promoting an exhibition curated by Jonathan Monk. All VG+.

MY FATHER FALLING THROUGH A DECKCHAIR. A PAIR OF LIMITED EDITION POSTERS.

N.p: s.p., n.d. Two different 84 x 64cm, full colour lithographic prints each with a different view of the artist’s father having fallen through a deckchair while relaxing in his garden. A typically nostalgic use of the artist’s family archive to create a new work used we believe as a floor stack in the way that Felix Gonzalez-Torres would do. Limitation unknown. VG+.

KEITH ARNATT WAS AN ARTIST. ADVERT IN THE ECONOMIST. 2009.

London: The Economist, 28th November 2009 30 x 21cm, 106pp plus wrappers. A single number of this important international financial magazine which contains a paid advert by Jonathan Monk on page 104 - "Keith Arnatt was an artist" under the "Business & Personal" section. Arnatt sometimes used commercial tv advertising for works. VG+.

COUNTING IN COLOUR. 2010. ONE OF ONLY 32 PORTFOLIOS WITH TEN SIGNED LITHOGRAPHS.

Polígrafa Obra Gráfica, 2010 47 x 57.5cm, Portfolio with 11 lithographs each with a number from 1 to 11 printed in the respective number of colours of the number i.e. 6 has 6 overlapping different colours. We assumed the choice of 11 numbers reflects the number of players in a football team and the whole in in a printed card box with a centre circle from a football pitch design however we asked Jonathan Monk and he replied: "the piece was not really supposed to relate to football but the publisher is a big Barcelona fan and he proposed the football related portfolio... and I guess there are eleven numbers. The colours don’t specifically connect to team shirts but I’m sure connection can be found... ". This is one of only 32 such sets with each lithograph signed by Monk.

JONATHAN MONK. 2010. DOUBLE SIGNED BY MONK ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CARD.

Berlin: BQ, 2010 10.5 x 15cm, 2pp, Announcement card for exhibition and book launch - the two sides of the card are both typographic but on the back Monk has mirrored the front of the card. Additionally Monk has signed both sides of the card in pencil but on the back his signature is approximately in reverse also. Unique thus due to the signatures. VG+.

SOMEWHERE SOON. 2010. ONE OF 40 SIGNED & NUMBERED EXAMPLES.

Paris: Alice Traval & FLorence Loewy, 2010 120 x 150cm, white silkscreen on green cotton. The text reads A TIME & A PLAVE AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE The work is banner and flag at the same time although the instruction is to pin the work to the wall rather than fly it on a pole. A reference to the work of conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner, the banner's text is also a "meeting" text - suggesting a generalised description of a place and time. This is one of 40 examples alongside 10 artist's proofs - each signed and numbered on a separate paper certificate. In original 23 x 36 x 4cm two part heavy cardboard box with tipped on printed label. VG+.

A POSTER PROJECT. 2011. TEN POSTERS & ONE SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH. EDITION OF 45 SETS.

Manchester/Birmingham: Booksworks/Eastside Projects, 2011 Ten wall offset lithograph posters (each 84.1 x 59.4cm) by Jonathan Monk based on instructions supplied by the artist and one 20.3 x 15.2cm, b/w photograph of Martin Kippenberger (taken from one of the posters) which is signed and numbered from the edition on the back. Monk supplied six vintage (original) artist's posters to the publisher. Each location (from a tour of the exhibition) starting in Birmingham was told to fly-post two of the vintage posters on a site of their choosing and then immediately photographed. An additional vintage Daniel Buren stripe poster was also fly-posted and the image rephotographed six times so that the image slowly fades in each subsequent poster. Ultimately the full set of 10 "new" posters were produced. Only 45 sets of these posters and the photograph were signed and numbered as an edition although a number of "non-signed" and "non-editioned" posters were also released. UNTITLED (HANDTRAINER) 2011. UNIQUE READYMADE OBJECT IN HAND ADDRESSED MAILING ENVELOPE?

20 x 18cm transparent bag containing a Dr Winkler "handtrainer" and printed leaflet/label. The "hand trainer" being a inflatable double thick blue plastic bag which is intended to be a means of building strength in one's hands by regular squeezing. This was sent by Monk to Paul Robertson in return for a Kippenberger inflatable object multiple that Monk purchased from Robertson's Heart Fine Art. Essentially a readymade unique artwork. JOINT: Original hand addressed (by Monk) mailing envelope (which had originally been sent to Jonathan Monk by Ryan Gander and was hand addressed by that artist0.

PUSH. PULL. 2012. ONE OF 20 SIGNED & NUMBERED EXAMPLES.

Bruxelles: MORE publishers, 2012 30 x 20 x 8cm transparent perspex with two "DiamondPlate™ anodized aluminum" door signs mounted either side - on one side the word PUSH and on the other PULL. The sign has no other means of attaching it to any item or means to push or pull. This is one of 20 (plus 3 artist's proofs) examples - each signed and numbered. VG+.

Brussels: MOREpublications, 2013 Eight 29.7 x 21cm, b/w offset prints (with a 1pp 30 x 21cm, signed colophon sheet) each showing a detail of a larger image where a poster of Richard Hamilton is being held up by a woman but the details do not allow the full image to be discerned easily. There is a reference in the images to Hamilton's painting Toaster and his exhibition Products in 2003. One of 40 signed and numbered examples aside from 7 artist's proofs. VG+.

ALL THE POSSIBLE COMBINATIONS OF TWELVE LIGHTS LIGHTING (ONE AT A TIME). 2014. WITH STICKER SHEET.

Karlesruhe: Meyer Riegger, 2014 21 x 15cm, unpaginated. Original wrappers. Artist's book which displays the same b/w photograph of a Vespa and several blank pages. An additional 21 x 15cm, 1pp sheet of adhesive stickers is also supplied and the owner of the book is instructed to use the stickers (in 12 different colours) to create "your own unique combination of lights" supposedly from the various lights on the scooter. The reference is, of course, Sol Lewitt's systematic work-throughs of combinations of colours in his artist's books but made more physical in a the form of a design classic. VG+.

YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN CAUTIONED. 2015. SIGNED BY MONK.

Glasgow: Kingsford Captial Management/Partick Thistle, 2015 11 x 7.4cm, black on yellow "referee's card" with the text "You have officially been cautioned" printed on it in diecut red card folder. A limited edition object multiple given out at a Partick Thistle football match to "be used in situations both on and off the pitch where you wish to advise others : A line has been crossed and caution is advised. Put it to good use." This copy is signed on the back in felt tipped pen by Monk.

6616. 2016. ENVELOPE SIGNED BY MONK.

Bologna: Galleria Enrico Astuni, 2016 15 x 21cm, folded poster/booklet that opens up to 60 x 84cm poster. Designed by Monk each page opens up to a different textual work. This was issued during a group show curated by Lorenzo Bruni but Monk did not exhibit simply offering this work. The texts are in order: "IERI. OGGI. DOMANI. ECCETERA." which translated means "YESTERDAY. TODAY. TOMORROW. ETC." JOINT: Original printed envelope, neatly opened, signed in pencil on the back by Monk.

THE LIFE SIZED BLACK (A PORCHE FOR RH). 2016. SIGNED BY MONK.

Geneva: 5 rue de La Muse, 2016 21 x 15cm, 4pp announcement card reproducing a bitmapped photograph of a black Porche sportscar over the inner pages. A work dedicated to RH (Richard Hamilton) - the actual car shown was Hamilton's that came to auction in the year before this election. Monk also discovered that the car's official manual was written by a "Richard Hamilton" - hence he began to recreate the car but by enlarging the online auction image - the life size images being heavily pixilated. This card is in VG condition and is signed on the back cover by Monk.

THE MAGNETISM OF COLOUR. 2016. ONE OF 25 SIGNED & NUMBERED EXAMPLES.

Bruxelles: More Publishers, 2016 94 x 68cm, four colour silkscreen print showing a photograph of a package of coloured fridge magnets as well as the unopened package of 10 of the same fridge magnets. A self-referential artwork - the print is expected to be held in place on a metal background by the magnets. This is one of only 25 signed and numbered examples (aside from 5 artist's proofs). Both magnet package and print are in VG+ condition.

MY MOTHER CLEANING MY FATHER’S PIANO. 2016. SIGNED BY MONK.

Berlin: S.p. (Monk), 2016 30 x 21cm, 6pp folded single thing card sheet. Musical notation for the random noises created by the artist’s mother while cleaning her husband’s piano. Monk’s references to his father and mother are found in a number of works and this “music” was originally released in a limited edition seven inch vinyl record in 2001. Fine. This example unusually signed by Monk.

FOUR DETAILS OF A SWIMMING COSTUME. 2016. ONE OF 40 SIGNED & NUMBERED EDITIONS.

Brussels: MOREpublications, 2016 Four b/w 20.7 x 14.6cm, b/e offset prints each showing an enlarged detail from a photograph of a female swimming costume that has an oval which has stripes on it - Monk is emphasising the similarity to a Daniel Buren in situ stripe work. PEOPLE LOOKING AT ART. 2021. ONE OF ONLY 50 COPIES.

Essex: Fithsyllable, n.d. (2021) 16 x 11.5cm, grey foil stamped boards content of a 32pp concertina folded sheet displaying a selection of people looking at art (with the art not being shown) taken by Monk from the internet. This is one of only 50 such books produced. VG+. Very scarce.

Bruxelles: MorePublishers, 2021 Eleven digital prints (dimensions vary - 28 x 21.5 and 29.7 x 21cm) which are reprinted from press releases by Gagosian Gallery where Donald Judd, Theaster Gates, Anna Weyant, Jordan Wolfson, Jim Shaw, Rick Lowe, are announced as being represented by the gallery. The outer cardboard sleeve has a signed and numbered label from Monk from a total edition of 12 copies plus 8 artist's proofs. VG+.

Artist's book by Monk where he has re-photographed the original Ed Ruscha All the Buildings on Sunset Strip artist's book using an iphone 12 in panorama mode. One of 250 examples - part of the series of similar formatted books released by LL'Editions. VG+.
