A SIGNIFICANT & EXTENSIVE COLLECTION OF ANNOUNCEMENT CARDS, LEAFLETS & POSTCARDS BY JOSEPH BEUYS. 1965 – 1986.

Here we offer an extensive and significant collection of over 360 announcement cards, invite cards, publicity cards, announcement leaflets and other postcards by Joseph Beuys.

 

The collection currently consists of 324 cards and documents from July 1964 to artist’s unexpected death in January 1986 and a number of additional posthumous cards. The vast majority of these cards are directly related to solo exhibitions – of which Beuys had around 180 during his life time – hence this is a large proportion of all the Beuys invitation cards issued.

21 x 15cm, 1pp announcement card for a collection of historic works by Beuys from Caroline Tisdall's personal collection one year on from the artist's sudden death. VG+.

ZEICHNUNGEN UND MULTIPLES. 1987.

Koln: Edition HUndertmark, 1987 15 x 10.5cm, 2pp announcement card for a posthumous exhibition of drawings and multiples. The front of the card shows Beuys signing an edition "... und schwer weiderzufindende Garnrollen" in 1982. VG+.

JOSEPH BEUYS RETROSPEKTIVE. 1988.

Berlin: Martin-Gropius Bau, 1988 21 x 10cm, 6pp (single folded sheet). A posthumous retrospective with three works in colour on the front and internally another in b/w. Some ink writing on the inside of the leaflet else VG.

21 x 15cm, 4pp announcement card for a retrospective of works from a private collection, one painting reproduced in colour internally to the card. Slight damaged with close tears and handling creases.

JOSEPH BEUYS. VERANSTALTUNGEN IN KLEVE. 1989.

Kleve: Stadtbucherei Kleve, 1989 21 x 15cm, 4pp announcement and programme for a number of lectures and exhibitions in the artist's home town three years after his death. One portrait of the artist on the front, inside a listing of the events. There are a couple of ink annotations in red and black ink but else VG.

17.5 x 14cm, 2pp announcement card for a collection of historic works by Beuys from Caroline Tisdall's personal collection and additionally a related show of "poems and photographs" by Tisdall and Paul Van Vlissingen. One photograph of Beuys reproduced on the front. A mailed example with address label but VG+.

21 x 15cm, 8pp (single folded sheet) for a posthumous exhibition of multiples and other editions. The card opens to 60 x 21cm to create a poster for the show with an image of Beuys tying his shoes. VG+.
