Halle für Internationale Neue Kunst, Zürich, Switzerland. Artists in the catalogue include A.R. Penck, Robert Ryman, Sol LeWitt, Jannis Kounellis, Georg Baselitz, Richard Long, Lawrence Weiner, Bruce Nauman, Gerhard Richter, Lothar Baumgarten, Bernd and Hilla Becher, and Robert Mangold. Text in English and German. Illustrated in b/w throughout. Scarce.

HARD LIGHT. 1978.

LA/NYC: Heavy Industry Publications/Moved Pictures, 1978. 17.8 x 12.7cm, 120pp. Original wrappers. First and only edition of this Ruscha's unusual collaboration with Lawrence Weiner - 65 b/w and colour images of women in intense conversation with only a few pages containing any text (including the incorrect assertion that "By 2000 the majority of racing car drivers will be female"). One of 3,560 copies printed and distributed in garages, dime stores, comic book stores etc as were all of Rucha's point of sale books. Now scarce. This copy very fine with the original 10$ price sticker still to be found on the back cover (which we don't regard as a flaw).

42 x 30cm, 1pp, Offset lithographic poster with two b/w reproduced stills of the male protagonist from the film. Bit tatty near edges with closed tears and creases but scarce ephemera.

IN RELATION TO PROBABLE USE… 1979.

NYC: Leo Castelli Gallery, 1979
12.5 x 18cm, b/w gloss card. Recto is printed Weiner's conceptiual art credo but interestingly qualified by the artist to indicate it is culture specific, namely: "In relation to probable use within a culture (i.e. western): 1. an artist may construct a work 2. a work may eb fabricated 3. a work need not be built. A reasonable assumption is that each being equal and consistent with the intent of an artist the decision as to condition rests within the needs of the receiver upon the occasion of receivership." The exhibition was "3 works of Lawrence Weiner presented for sale &/or information at Leo Castelli NYC". A mailed copy which has some minor edge damage and on the return a postal address by hand and some colour staining from rubber stamp impressions presumably due to the mailing process.

Gallery details are overprinted on the reverse also on the commercial card design. Fine. Scarce.

The book itself has a triangular chunk cut out of every page - making it a sculpture itself. Fine. Halifax: Press of the Nova Scotia Coll. of Art & Design/Art Metropole, 1986 12 x 16cm, red, bluw and black die cut adhesive sticker which was the announcement for the exhibition and also the label added to the covers of the exhibition catalogue/raisonne. Very good example.

London: Air Gallery, 1986 32 x 22.5cm, printed manilla envelope with a design by Weiner content of two silkscreen limited edition “street posters” - both 60 x 42cm (folded twice as issued) printed black and pink and black and yellow both with designed by Weiner - MY HOUSE IS YOUR HOUSE and WE ARE SHOPS AT SEA NOT DUCKS ON A POND. The paper is lined manilla brown. There is an additional 30 x 21cm, 1pp information sheet with a text by Rudi Fuchs, Unusually both posters are very neatly dedicated and signed by Weiner at the bottom. These are two of the artist’s most attractive text works and they were released as a multiple during the exhibition Works from the Lawrence Weiner poster archive of the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design 1965 - 1986. Fine in VG envelope.
