Skelbye and then a page created by each artist. A lineated page entitled 'Processus de creation' and 'object' by Flexner; an illustrated page by P. Skelby; one page with a reproduced photograph by Janicot and the finlal work by Paul-Armand Gette - a pasted on postcard 'Lyon Bords du Rhône, station de Nébria (Eunebria) picicornis Febr. 1946'. APPROCHE DESCRIPTIVE D’UNE PLAGE. 1972.

Paris: Centre Culturel Suedois, Mars 1972 22.5 x 16cm, 8pp plus card covers. Loose folios with 10 blue on white offset photographs tipped onto the pages. An early artist's book where Gette investigated the beach at Malmo in Sweden and identified the various foliage and beach plants and photographed them. Much of Gette's early conceptual art involved the use of botanical science alongside sculpture and photography. This is a very early artist's book - limitation not known. VG+ condition.

LA PLAGE. 1974.

Malmo: Editions du Miroir, n.d. (1974) 24.5 x 17.5cm, 32pp (printed recto only) plus card covers. Artist's book investigating the algae, lichens, plants, seaweed, seashells, stones and insects found on the beach in Malmo where Gette had been visiting since 1969. The book reproduces the names of the various plants and images in b/w of the various items he found as well as temperature charts. Again Gette's scientific background was used to try to catalogue an area of public activity and define objectively what is meant by the term "beach". Limitation unknown but scarce. VG+.

ET REJSEMINDE. 1976.

Kopenhagen: Tranegarden, 1976 21 x 15cm, 4pp in lilac printed wrappers. Artist's book which documents the plants found by Gette during a visit to Copenhagen on 26 July 1973. Lists all the plants he found in a facsimile reproduction from his notes with one full page b/w images of the landscape. VG+. Scarce early artist's book.

LES MESURES: ARTEMISIA CAMPESTRIS L. 1976.

Antibes: ARROCARIA editions, 1976 10 x 14.9cm, 2pp postcard edition with a b/w photograph by Gette on the front showing a rule placed in a bush of Artemesia campestris L. (a common perennial herb found in France). Hard edged science meets nature. Issued as an artist's postcard in an unknown edition size. An unmailed VG+ example.

Paris: Chevel d'attaque, 1977 22 x 16cm, 76pp plus pictorial wrappers. Artist's book with texts (in French) by Michel Giroud and Paul-Armand Gette: "Proposition sur une approche possible de l'ensemble de mes travaux". There are 23 b/w images of beaches taken by the adtist with lists of the various flowers and other flora found near the sites imaged. VG+ although slight yellowing to wrappers and a former bookseller's rubber stamp impression on the inner back page.

Tournus: Musée Greuze, 1987 10.5 x 15cm, printed black on pink folder content of five different 10.5 x 15cm postcards (each 2pp) and a short essay by Gette (10.5 x 15cm, 4pp). The visit to the museum led Gette to publish images of the exhibits relating to his fascination with volcanism and the feminine form. Gette's aesthetic has always been about touch and he compares the hard stone in opposition to the soft flesh. An artist's book in the form of postcards. Limitation unknown.
