Toronto: General Idea, 1972 - 1983 27 issues including the ultra rare first ever issue. Here we offer an incomplete if extensive run of this important artist's journal which was founded by General Idea. The numbers here include Vol 1 Nr 1, Vol 1 Nr 2/3, Vol 1 Nr 4; Vol 2 Nrs 1/2, 3, 4, 5; Vol 3 Nrs 1, 2, 3, 4; Vol 4 Nrs 1, 2, 3, 4; Vol 5 Nrs 1, 2, 3, 4; Vol 6 Nrs 1/2, 3 and the numbers 25, 27, 28 and final issue 29. File was General Idea's art periodical counterpoint to the USA's LIFE magazine and the earlier numbers parodied the covers of that better known publication. Content is a mixture of conceptual, mail and intermedia art including the GI's own work - often with a homoerotic element. Ray Johnson was a frequent contributor here and Issue 1 famously has Mr Peanut on the cover and there is a full page b/w portrait of Johnson on page 3 of the Vol 1 Nr 4 issue. The first two numbers offered here are very rare indeed. Most COPIES show shelf wear and some wear down the spines (5/4 has a few ink marks on the front cover which do not really detract). Over all a substantial and nearly complete run of this influential artist publication Notable amongst the run is the General Idea number (5/4) which has a content entirely of three day-glo stylised poodles in various adventurous and flexible sexual positions and can be regarded in itself as an artist's book. The price is for the entire group of 28 numbers (missing only nr 26).

All = 85. A continuous early run of this important art journal that was initiated from Stephane Elizabeth from her Galerie les Contemporains, along with her son Stepháne and daughter Anne-Marie. The first issue (included here) was published on the occasion of the Düsseldorf Art Fair in October 1973. Contributions are from by Jospeh Beuys (2 covers), Marcel Broodthaers (3 covers), André Cadere, Charlier, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Anne and Patrick Poirier, Ulay & Marina Abramovic, Ian Hamilton Finlay and others. N.p. (Copenhagen): Danish Contemporary Art Foundation, 1999 21 x 30cm, 12pp plus crd covers. The prospectus issued in advance for the co-project between Jason Rhoades and Peter Bonde for the 48th Venice Biennale where the artists planned to transform the Danish pavilion in Venice into a stock car course with real American stock cars, sound effects and film projections. Full colour images of stock cars and plans for the pavilion. This is far scarcer than the later published report on the work albeit there is not much detail of the actual final work. VG+.

The programme for the Music Festival held at the Galleria L'Attico from June 3 to 15, 1974 with the participation of La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela, Philip Glass, TR Mahalingan, Charlemagne Palestine, Pandit Gran Nath), TN Ramachandra Iyer, and Terry Riley. The text includes a long interview by Mrs. Singh with La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela, an interview with Phil Glass by Willoughby Sharp and Liza Bear, and texts by Daniel Caux, David Reck, TR Mahalingan, and Charlemagne Palestine. Each of the main participants has a b/w photo-portrait reproduced.

This is a very rare publication with minor browning on the edges of the front cover else VG+.

A performance by Paik, Moorman, Chieko Shiomi, Philip Corner, Dick Higgins, Peter Moore, and others which included Electronic TV & Color TV Experiment, 3 Robots, Pop Sonata, 2 Zen Boxes and 1 Zen Can. This was Paik's first one-person exhibition in the United States and the image on the front of the poster is of Paik's Robot K-456 (taken by Peter Moore). On the reverse is Paik's essay, "Electronic TV & Color TV Experiment." Charlotte Moorman performed ‘Pop Sonata’ for the second time, a piece which involved her removing her jewellery and clothes “before she lay down on the floor to finish the piece, her cello atop her like a lover” This leaflet was sent to Ray Johnson and the ink address on the reverse is in Moorman's own hand.
