A SIGNIFICANT AND EXTENSIVE COLLECTION OF ANNOUNCEMENT CARDS, LEAFLETS AND POSTCARDS BY JOSEPH BEUYS

Here we offer an extensive and significant collection of over 150 announcement cards, invite cards, publicity cards, announcement leaflets and other postcards by Joseph Beuys.
The collection consists of 138 cards from July 1964 to artist's unexpected death in January 1986 and a small number of additional posthumous cards. Over 100 of these cards are directly related to exhibitions of which Beuys had around 280 during his life time - hence this is over one third of all the Beuys invitation cards issued.

Some cards are unique, others signed and yet others regarded as postcard editions by the artist.

This is a museum or library standard collection of these increasingly hard to find documentations of exhibitions and other artistic activities - usually created with Beuys' agreement or participation in the design.

Three boxes (each 18.5 x 13.5 x 1.4cm) content of 12 different picture postcards in each (36 in total) - a complete set of the cards issued by the publisher here aside from the more expensive object multiple where an “economic value” object was issued in a further card box. All fine in like boxes - very scarce in this format outside of the multiple.

A SIGNIFICANT AND EXTENSIVE COLLECTION OF ANNOUNCEMENT CARDS, LEAFLETS AND POSTCARDS BY JOSEPH BEUYS

Here we offer an extensive and significant collection of over 150 announcement cards, invite cards, publicity cards, announcement leaflets and other postcards by Joseph Beuys.
The collection consists of 138 cards from July 1964 to artist's unexpected death in January 1986 and a small number of additional posthumous cards. Over 100 of these cards are directly related to exhibitions of which Beuys had around 280 during his life time - hence this is over one third of all the Beuys invitation cards issued.

Some cards are unique, others signed and yet others regarded as postcard editions by the artist.

This is a museum or library standard collection of these increasingly hard to find documentations of exhibitions and other artistic activities - usually created with Beuys' agreement or participation in the design.

"In 1979, when he arrived in West Berlin, Willats drove around the city for five days to familiarise himself with the different districts.He came across the modern housing complexes of Mårkisches Viertel and Gropiusstadt which seemed to represent the ‘overt demonstrations of an institutional new reality’.He made contacts with people on these estates and later the owner of a Schrebergårten and a woman who owned a small boutique.To Willats, West Berlin at that time, was an island and the locations and people he worked with to make a series of four works lived within their own islands – be it an apartment in a tower block, or enclosed in a shop or seeking a freedom from a small flat in a garden.In co-operation with Willats, people documented their ideas about individual aspects of their situation in interviews and photographs which were then arranged as clear diagrammatic presentations." from http://stephenwillats.com
