N.p. (Copenhagen): Danish Contemporary Art Foundation, 1999

21 x 30cm, 12pp plus crd covers. The prospectus issued in advance for the co-project between Jason Rhoades and Peter Bonde for the 48th Venice Biennale where the artists planned to transform the Danish pavilion in Venice into a stock car course with real American stock cars, sound effects and film projections. Full colour images of stock cars and plans for the pavilion. This is far scarcer than the later published report on the work albeit there is not much detail of the actual final work. VG+.

Stuttgart: Edition Hansjörg Mayer, 1967

32.3 x 334cm, unpaginated (40pp french folds) cover and florescent dust jacket. Letterpress. Spiral bound. Artists’ book by Ludwig Harig featuring a stereophonic play evoking both sound and concrete poetry - the title indicates it is a song about football. One of three books published by Edition Hansjörg Mayer in this size and format.

This is one of the 200 signed and numbered copies (nr 46) which is signed in ink by Harig on the colophon page. It is in excellent condition internally but the wrappers have some small wear and tear along the margins and minor grubbiness at the edges – else the colour is very bright with no significant fading. Scarce.

22 x 16cm, 816pp plus pictorial wrappers. A photo-book where "between 2014 and 2019, Ari Marcopoulos documented the Conrad McRae Youth League Tournament at Dean Street Playground in Brooklyn, New York. Players from age six and older can participate in the tournament, which features some of the best high school basketball players from the greater New York City area. His individual and group portraits of the players, staff, and audience are interspersed with action-filled shots of the games, while the tournament jersey with its small “Jumpman” logo (inspired by Michael Jordan) becomes the series’ predominant theme. His individual and group portraits of the players, staff, and audience are interspersed with action-filled shots of the games, while the tournament jersey with its small “Jumpman” logo (inspired by Michael Jordan) becomes the series’ predominant theme. In both posed and candid shots we see players poised, ready to hit the court, or sweating in the summer heat."
This is one of only 25 deluxe copies - signed & numbered in black ink by Marcopoulos which was also accompanied by an original basketball jersey (unworn) from the tournament (each jersey was different - this one is in pink with grey logo on the front). Both VG+.

London: s.p. (Phillips), 1988
30 x 21cm, b/w printed folder with invitation text for this cricket match which was between the Tom Phillips XI and the Rest Of The Art World XI. The former team had Mark Boyle, Norman Ackroyd and Phillips himself whereas the opposition team including Ian Breakwell and Michael Nyman. We asked Nyman about this and he remembers the game but cannot remember whether he played or not - he told us that if he did he was "rubbish". Inserted in to the folder is a 30 x 21cm full colour lithograph with a self-portrait by Phillips which is signed and dated in blue pen. The folder in additional acts as a score card for the match. Very limited edition issued privately to those attending. Fine.
