NYC: Avalanche Magazine, 1974
42 x 29cm, 32pp (self cover) Tabloid later number of the conceptual art museum founded by Willoughby Sharp. This number is dedicated to Video and Performance art with articles / contributions by Vito Acconci, Robert Bell, Joseph Beuys, Ulrike Rosenbach, Dennis Oppenheim, Keith Sonnier, Richard Serra, Chris Burden, Willoughby Sharp and William Wegman. The paper is as always a little browned and some wear and tear to the edges and spine (which has small tears but is intact) however this is better condition than usually found. The later numbers of Avalanche are much harder to find than the earlier ones.

AVALANCHE FALL 1970, FALL 1971, WINTER 1971, SPRING 1972, SUMMER 1972, FALL 1972, WINTER/SPRING 1973, SUMMER/FALL 1973, MAY/JUNE 1973, MAY/JUNE 1974, DECEMBER 1974, SUMMER 1975

New York: Avalanche & Kineticism Press, 1970 - 1974

Twelve separate numbers (13 = ALL). Dimensions - 1970 - 1973, approx. uniform: 23.5 x 23.5cm, pagination varies. original pictorial wrappers. May/June 1973 - 1974, approx. 44 x 29cm, (tabloid format on newspaper), pagination varies.

A scarce near complete run of this performance and conceptual art journal which was published by Willoughby Sharp intermittently and edited by Lisa Bear. Articles or original contributions from almost all of the best known of avant garden artists including Acconci, Anderson, Aycock, Beuys, Brouwn, Burden, Buren, Darboven, Dibbets, Fischer, Forti, Fox, General Idea, Gilbert and George, Haacke, Kawara, La Va, Lewitt, Long, Matta-Clark, Morris, Nauman, Rinke, Ruckreim, Rosenbach, Ruscha, Smith, Smithson, Sonnier, Serra, Tremmlet, Walther, Wegman, Weiner and many more.

As ever there are condition problems here especially with the tabloid numbers which are creased and torn in places due to the cheap paper used as well as significant browning but these are hard to find items. The earlier book-style numbers are in better condition but with some soft creases to covers and Spring 1972 has some staining on the top right of the cover which has intruded into the first few pages. That said runs of this number are rarely encountered and there are very few copies of this journal to be found online even singly.

Price is for all 12 numbers as a collection
