Alba: Laboratorio Sperimentale Del Movimento Internazionale Per Una " Bauhaus Immaginista", 1956 14.5 x 22.8cm, black and green offset letterhead created for the vastly important "First World Congress of Free Artists" which brought together Enrico Baj, Jacques Calonne, Constant, Giuseppe Pinot Gallizio, Asger Jorn, Piero Simondo, Ettore Sottsass Jr, Elena Verrone (from the International Movement for an Imaginist Bauhaus), Gil J. Wolman (from the Lettrist International/Potlatch), Sandro Cherchi, Franco Garelli , Jan Kotik, Pravoslav Rada (Czechoslovakia), Charles Estienne, and Klaus Fischer to discuss joint projects. The importance of this meeting cannot be underwritten - it brought together many of the main currents of the European International Avant Garde and laid the foundations for the eventual formation of the International Situationists. 18 x 13.5cm, 158pp. Pictorial card covers. First edition of this (non-erotic) modification/evolution of Battaille's Story of O (L'Histoire d'O) by the surrealist and polemicist Estienne. Original lithographs throughout by Lapique. This copy is a service du press copy with a two line dedication by the author to a fellow critic. Very good.

27 x 21cm, 1pp black on yellow paper. One of the last hurrahs of the official surrealists condemning the public representation of Marcel Duchamp (in a painting) being beaten up by the pop artists. Hardly worth the spleen but signed nonetheless by over 40 of the group including Breton, Audoin, Benoit, Dax, Estienne, Lebel, Lebrun, Mansour, Parent, Schwarz, and Toyen. This is the true first edition printed on red/orange - this copy came indirectly from Breton's own collection. Fine.

22.5 x 14.5cm, 8pp black on yellow. Collective tract creating a public feud between the "left" of the group and the new artistic journal Planete published by Louise Pauwels and Jacques Bergiers. The debate did Planete no harm - it thrived. Signed by Bedouin, Benayoun, Breton, Dax, Jaguer, Revel amongst others. Fine.

Paris: Surrealist group, 1956

26 x 20cm, 1pp black on olive green. Important late political papillion issued by the group condemning the election of 52 deputies of the Poujadiste movement to the national assembly - "of whom it is not an exaggeration to call fascists".

Signed by nineteen members of the group and in solidarity by Charles Estienne - the printed names include Bedouin, Benayoun, Breton, Dax, Nora Mitrani and Benjamin Peret amongst others. Fine.
