Laure was a veritable polemic lightening rod within the context of the Bataille / Michel Leiris and "College de Sociologie" milieu until her tragic death (of tuberculosis) at the age of 35 in 1938. S

ubsequently her first book "Le Sacre" was issued under the stewardship of Bataille and Leiris. For many years Peignot was Bataille's lover. A fine example.
