Mixed media: xerox, original paper till roll receipt, cardboard and wire. 28 x 21.5cm. This work was created by Graham at the Castelli Gallery as part of the early conceptual projects the artist published in various magazines: namely a series of reproductions of shopping receipts.

This specific receipt was published in Harper’s Bazaar, March 1968, as part of a famous and highly significant piece titled “Figurative”. Potentially a conceptual attack on the commodification of art - this work is a decidedly home-made artwork with a xerox reproduction of the till roll being collaged with the actual till roll used - all backed by a cardboard 'frame' and wire "hanger". The glass was added later. The xerox (a thermal system) is browned and spotted but not too faded and the till roll is still mostly bright. Full provenance. Fine (within the obvious limitations of the materials used). This is an important artwork and the actual original till receipt used in the famous advert.
