42 x 29cm, 8pp. Tabloid newspaper issued by General Idea on 2 February 1974 - announced as the 1,000,011 anniversary of the birth of art (after Robert Filliou's announcement of the date). As with many of General Idea's actions the publication is mostly a report on a party that took plave in Elks Building in Los Angeles. B/w white photographs of many of the attendees including Granada Gazelle, Noah Dakota, Count Fanzini, Judy D'Or, Bambi Fawn, Mr Peanut, as well as a photograph of Filliou with a huge cake during an event in Aachen. In a section entitled "How would you fare casting Hollywood Stars" images of Jorge Zontal, Chris Burden, Feliz Partz, Willoughby Sharp and others can be found. This is in VG+ condition despite the 50 years since the event although it is folded for distribution. Very scarce publication.

Firenze: Zona Archives, 1986
10.5 x 15cm, 2pp. Artist postcard released on the occasion of the series of "Secret Events" created by James Lee Byars, Daniel Buren, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Terry Fox, General Idea, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Sol Lewitt, Maurizio Nannucci and Lawence Weiner for Nannucci's Zona Archives. Here on the front of the card is a photograph of Lewitt's event - a white cube which was left in the post office box of Zona Archives. This is documentation in postcard form after the vent rather than an announcement card. Fine. Scarce.

Toronto: General Idea, 1972 - 1983
27 issues including the ultra rare first ever issue.

Here we offer an incomplete if extensive run of this important artist's journal which was founded by General Idea. The numbers here include

Vol 1 Nr 1, Vol 1 Nr 2/3, Vol 1 Nr 4; Vol 2 Nrs 1/2, 3, 4, 5; Vol 3 Nrs 1, 2, 3, 4; Vol 4 Nrs 1, 2, 3, 4; Vol 5 Nrs 1, 2, 3, 4; Vol 6 Nrs 1/2, 3 and the numbers 25, 27, 28 and final issue 29.

File was General Idea's art periodical counterpoint to the USA's LIFE magazine and the earlier numbers parodied the covers of that better known publication. Content is a mixture of conceptual, mail and intermedia art including the GI's own work - often with a homoerotic element. Ray Johnson was a frequent contributor here and Issue 1 famously has Mr Peanut on the cover and there is a full page b/w portrait of Johnson on page 3 of the Vol 1 Nr 4 issue.

The first two numbers offered here are very rare indeed.

Most COPIES show shelf wear and some wear down the spines (5/4 has a few ink marks on the front cover which do not really detract). Over all a substantial and nearly complete run of this influential artist publication

Notable amongst the run is the General Idea number (5/4) which has a content entirely of three day-glo stylised poodles in various adventurous and flexible sexual positions and can be regarded in itself as an artist's book.

The price is for the entire group of 28 numbers (missing only nr 26).

Vancouver: Image Bank, 1974
35.5 x 35.5cm, four colour silkscreen on board. The image was created by Michael Morris and Vincent Trasov to commemorate the Decca Dance that took place in the same year. It is a landscape view of Elks Building Hollywood where the Dance took place.

The Decca Dance was held to celebration of the (fictional) 1,000,011th anniversary of Art (as decided upon by Robert Filliou) and was organised by Image Bank as well as by Lowell Darling, Willoughby Sharp, Ant Farm, General Idea and the Western Front. There was an ornate stage show,: "a parody of the Academy Awards, featured a male chorus resplendent in tuxedos and Shark Fin Bathing Caps moving in stately symmetry to the inimitable crooning of androgyne Pascal. It could be said to mark the peak of the mail art movement and for many signalled the end of it."

This is one of 300 hand numbered in pencil copies and is stamped Image Bank on the back - the work is titled in pencil also. VG+ condition and rather beautiful.

35.7 x 27cm, 64pp plus pictorial covers. A single and extremely relatively early number of the journal founded by General Idea. Paper is as ever browned but this is better than most and is overall a VG++ example of a rare number of this journal.
