31 x 23 x 4cm, unpaginated c. 56 pp. Loose signatures (28.5 x 20cm) in the original faux wood boards. First edition of this late surrealist poetry book by Hugnet (12 separate works) with etchings by Vroom (cover, title page and 12 hors texte). The total limitation was 75 - but this is a lettered copy from the 5 copies retained for the authors and publishers and used for the legal deposit in the French Library system i.e. de facto this is one of only 3 copies available to the public! Signed by both Hugnet and Vroom.

Fine apart from a small section of the boards has chipped away and the slipcase is a bit worn and mildly grubby in places. Rare.

24.5 x 16.3cm, 24pp.  Original wrappers. The fourth number of this vanguard revue as  edited and published by Sophie Taeuber-Arp. Tri-lingual (French, German and English) texts and illustrations by Raoul Hausaman, Kandinsky, Hans Arp, Kurt Schwitters and Georges Hugnet as well as a short novel which was co-written in a collaboration by Arp, Duchamp, Eluard, Ernst, Hugnet, Pastoureau and Gisele Prassino. A very good example apart from a closed 4cm tear along the bottom of the spine. Scarce.

23 x 16.5cm, 10pp, self wrapper. A single number of this "cahier" mostly dedicated to the work of Eluard with a text by Jean Paulhan on the poet, an illustration by Picasso and 7 poems by the writer. There is also a 1pp text on George Hugnet by Francis Dumont and a booklist of Eluard's publications. An uncut example. Not often encountered.<br /><br />

19 x 12.2cm, 158pp. Original wrappers. First edition of this collection of poetry from Ott who was the youthful wife of Georges Hugnet during the latter's emergence as a distinctive voice within the surrealist group. This example has a signed dedication by Ott to a madame Myrtille Hubert in a wonderfully trained hand. Internally a bit browned due to cheap paper but otherwise a very good example of a work that is interesting as much for its lack of a surrealist sensibility despite the author's presumed access to the new ideas which motivated her partner. Scarce.

19 x 14.5cm, 70pp. Original wrappers. First edition (after only 20 examples reserved for the author) of this early poetic work by the Surrealist poet, photo-collagist, editor, curator and (less successfully) bookseller. Throughout the 1930's, Hugnet was involved in every aspect of Surrealist group activity at home and abroad, including bookwork collaborations with Bellmer, Hayter, Picasso and Seligmann (among others). A very good+ copy of this scarce title.

19 x 14cm, 170pp. Original wrappers. First edition of this Hugnet selected<br />anthology of surrealist verse with illustrations of paintings and objects (some of them little-known) hors texte by Man Ray, Giacometti, Miro, Dali.

20 x 16cm, 28pp. 16 b/w woodcut textual illustrations by Jean Arp. Unbound signatures laid into green printed paper folio. First edition of this excellent wartime Surrealist collaboration. Composed of poetic texts by Hugnet, as illustrated by Arp. One of 176 numbered examples on pur fil, apart from the 'du tete' of 23 (total issue). A fine example of this attractive and scarce livre d'artiste.

25,6 x 16,6cm, 80pp. Original wrappers. First edition of this the surrealist's first book which in the trade edition was illustrated by Max Jacob with four original b/w drawings hors texte.

This is a hors commerce example, unnumbered but on a special Madagascar paper reserved only for reviewers and friends of the artist (the rest of the edition consisted of 5 examples on japon, 15 on hollande copies and 150 on velin d'arches).

Additionally there is a exceptional full page (humorous and very friendly) relatively long, hand-written dedication to the early surrealist gallerist Pierre Colle (who was the person who first exhibited Dali as a solo artist - and for that matter, Tanguy....). Also found here is also a small Hugnet drawing of a head which he has entitled a "portrait de l'emmerde de la preface no 2" which is signed and dated 5 june 1928. A very good example.

Obviously unique and a wonderful association copy.
