N.p. (Paris): s.p. (Wolman), n.d. (1966)

23.5 x 5cm unique "Scotch-art” work by the Internationale Lettriste - using transparent adhesive tape the artist removed images from colour newspapers and transferted them to various backings; here hard wax, to create a form of collage.

This is one of a number of such works all called "Put a Wolman in your car".

This is unsigned but the original invoice is included which is titled, dated 1989 and handwritten and signed by Gil j Wolman. The back of the work is cracked but still intact and requires framing or repair but is not a problem for the front of the work. Such Scotch-Art works are very hard to find on the market.

27 x 10.5cm , 4pp plus brown 4pp wrappers (unprinted kraft paper). Internally mimeographed pages. This is the first and only publication of the short-lived Deuxième internationale lettriste, which was founded by Jean-Louis Brau, Gil Wolman and François Dufrêne splitting from Letterisme. Short signed texts by Brau "L’Asymptote toujours" and Wolman “L’Art a posteriori” are conjoined by two unsigned texts (“Positions II” and “Eloge d’Isou”). Some covers included thumbprints by the artists but this example does not. Staple slightly rusted else VG. Very rare.

Alba: Laboratorio Sperimentale Del Movimento Internazionale Per Una " Bauhaus Immaginista", 1956

14.5 x 22.8cm, black and green offset letterhead created for the vastly important "First World Congress of Free Artists" which brought together Enrico Baj, Jacques Calonne, Constant, Giuseppe Pinot Gallizio, Asger Jorn, Piero Simondo, Ettore Sottsass Jr, Elena Verrone (from the International Movement for an Imaginist Bauhaus), Gil J. Wolman (from the Lettrist International/Potlatch), Sandro Cherchi, Franco Garelli , Jan Kotik, Pravoslav Rada (Czechoslovakia), Charles Estienne, and Klaus Fischer to discuss joint projects.

The importance of this meeting cannot be underwritten - it brought together many of the main currents of the European International Avant Garde and laid the foundations for the eventual formation of the International Situationists.

JOINT:

Alba: Laboratorio Sperimentale Del Movimento Internazionale Per Una " Bauhaus Immaginista", 1956

12.3 x 15.5cm, green and black on white printed envelope for the same event.

Price is for both items together - the stationery for a major landmark in European political and art history.

Paris: Production D.N.C.I., n.d. (c. 1958?)

17 x 23cm, purple and black postcard with an image of Notre Dam Cathedral on the front and verso production details. The card acts as a record also if placed on a record player and two pieces played by the Orchestre de le D.N.C.I. can be heard - Viens Danser by G. Becaud and P. Delange and Portofino by Loubusch et Bonifay. This is somewhat of a musical oddity / novelty but it was sourced from the Gil Wolman archive and Wolman produced the music. Slight edge wear at two corners else VG+ and seemingly unplayed. Rare.
