21 x 230cm, black and white silver gelatine photograph from original negative showing Jack Smith, Barbara Rubin & Jonas Mekas at the  Filmmakers' Cinematheque in 1967

This image was originally taken by Fred McDarrah and his estate retains copyright on the image so this is sold for personal use and not for reproduction. This is in very good condition and a crisp modern print (post 1990s we suspect) from original negative. If this was a vintage print we would charge much more.

21 x 15cm, 2pp announcement card for a posthumous show of works relating to Smith's performances. One b/w image of the artist on the front, verso gallery details. VG+.

10.2 x 15cm, 1pp mimeograph black on blue paper. Publicity leaflet designed by Smith for this proposed premier of his Sinbad film which research suggests was never made along with a showing of Flaming Creatures his best known and most influential film. However at its first showing Flaming Creatures was seized by the police at its premiere on April 29, 1963 at the Bleecker Street Cinema in New York City and Jonas Mekas was prosecuted and given a suspended sentence for showing the film. It is not clear if this performance on Broadway took place. The leaflet has a rough drawing by Smith of a transvestite Sinbad applying lipstick.

10.5 x 15cm, 1pp hand-made postcard promoting the filmmaker’s screening of his film of a live performance. Reproduces the artist’s cartoon of an erupting volcano. The film’s title changed continually and was referred to as "Sacred Landlordism of Plaster Paradise" and "Sacred Landlordism of Lagoon Paradise” elsewhere. VG.
