23 x 16.5 hand made envelope (parchment) sealed with wax content of a 22 x 15.5cm, 4pp hand made paper card with tipped on 13.5 x 11cm original b/w offset lithograph. The extremely rare invitation to the Canadian Benoit's action which took place in Joyce Monsour's flat in Paris with Breton amongst others attending. The action took place just before the opening of the 1960 international surrealist exhibition and on the 150th anniversary of the libertine's death.

The climax of the event - where Benoit wore an ornate surrealist costume - was the self-branding of the artist with a suitably erotic symbol a stylised penis (quickly followed by Roberto Matta's inspired, copy-cat, albeit unplanned, self-marking).

Small 0.5 closed tear on the internal card but otherwise a fine example of this elusive documentation of a famous last surrealist event.

Signed in print by the usual suspects - Alechinsky, Audoin, Bedoin, Benoit, Breton, Camacho, Dax, Legrand, Ivsic, Joubert, Le Brun, Mansour, Parent and Toyen amongst others.

25 x 19cm, 2pp black on pink. Surrealist tract attacking the evolution of the French Communist Party into early euro-communism and leaving revolutionary activity behind as well as reawakening old scores between the Group and Aragon. Breton had died the previous year and the group was de facto leaderless at this point although there were no shortage of pretenders. Signed in print by Audoin, Bedoin, Benoit, Camacho, Dax, Ivsic, Le Brun, Mansour, Parent and Toyen amongst others. Fine.

27 x 21cm, 1pp black on yellow paper. One of the last hurrahs of the official surrealists condemning the public representation of Marcel Duchamp (in a painting) being beaten up by the pop artists. Hardly worth the spleen but signed nonetheless by over 40 of the group including Breton, Audoin, Benoit, Dax, Estienne, Lebel, Lebrun, Mansour, Parent, Schwarz, and Toyen. This is the true first edition printed on red/orange - this copy came indirectly from Breton's own collection. Fine.

Surrealist tract denouncing the named artists for signing a public appeal on behalf of the jailed Spanish painter Siqueiros who had been jailed for his (supposed) part in the assassination of Leon Trotsky. Signed in print by Alechinsky, Audouin, Bedoin, Benayoun, Benoit, Breton, Dax, Ivsic, Jaguer, Mansour, Mayoux, Parent and Toyen amongst others. Scarce. Near fine apart from a tiny tear top right.

This is the true first edition as it contains a typographic mistake ("dynamite") which is here corrected in Breton's own hand to "dynamatique" - this copy came indirectly from Breton's own collection. Fine.
