The letter is essentially a letter welcoming Faux to membership of the college and outlining some of the important aspects of membership. Above all Faux is warned to keep the existence of the college and its statutes etc. secret. The letter is dated using the college's own calendar as 76 - making the letter one of the earliest college documents we have ever seen given it was written in 1949, the year of the college's founding.

The letter has a red rubber stamp impression and is signed in ink Huguessainmon. There is a small brown mark top left, the letter has been folded twice and there is a small 3cm tear and minor wear but over all very good. A rare exceptionally early document from a significant figure in the college.
