Paris, Jean-Jacques Pauvert, 1956

19 x 12cm, 130pp + 4 plates hors-texte (photographs of a sculpture of Diana). Original pictorial wrappers. First edition of this lesser known erotic work by the promiscuous (at least while younger) Klossowski - written like most of his works under the influence of De Sade. One of 2,000 numbered copies. Slight creases on cover and minor brown marking to the wrappers but internally mostly uncut and very good.

Paris, Editions du Seuil-"Pierres Vives", 1947

19 x 14.2cm, . 212pp. Original wrappers. First edition of this, the artist's first book; an extended essay on De Sade (displaying the long-term attraction of the libertine on all who were touched by the radicalising influence of pre-war surrealism).

This copy is not only blind-punched SP for "service du press" but has a signed hand written dedication in Pierre Klossowski's attractive hand to a friend on the half page and has the original publisher's mailing label inserted. A little browned but otherwise near fine. Scarce.

Paris: Minuit, 1959

18.5 x 12cm, 186pp. Original wrappers. First edition of this volatile work by the author/artist. Here, Klossowski draws upon his own conflicted history as Dominican novice. The title refers to the proclamation of religious tolerance issued by Henry IV, in relation to the Hugenots (1598). The edict was revoked in 1685 by Louis XIV. One of 1,500 numbered copies. A very good+ example with some marks on wrappers that may be nascent foxing.
