The "four vortices" are reworked images taken from the outside of John Lewis partnership paper carrier bags (a rather progressive co-operative company founded on Quaker principles and at the time one of the larger department stores in many UK cities). The drawings by Upton should "be taken as scores for electronic treatment of this section...". The text is noted as having been written during the Ninth International Festival of Sound Poetry on June 5 1976. All elements are VG+. Each of the four poems has the artist's name and London address on verso.

The third version (and the third published but all are different) of a sound poem by Upton that was previously performed by b p Nichol and others at the Eighth International Festival of Sound Art. An evoloving work where the names of shipwrecks to be found around the Isles of Scilly are read out in four voices simultaneously. VG+. Scarce.
