18 x 21cm, b/w vintage AP Wire press photograph printed in 1957. The image shows Elizabeth Eckford one of nine black students who had to be daily escorted into Central High School by State Troopers after a successful court battle to end educational segregation in Arkansas. The revealing image hints at some discord as while two of the students are happy to talk to Elizabeth others appear to be shunning her during the fire drill by turning their backs to her. There is a photographic legend on the back of the photograph which is scotch taped down and a copyright rubber stamping and hand written size measurements for a paste-down and several date stamps: "Sept 26 1957". Overall VG+ condition although the photograph is slightly rippled. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommissioned from the Seattle Times Library.

18 x 25cm, b/w vintage AP Wire press photograph printed in 1965. The image is of a clash point between Arkansas State Police and a number of mostly black civil rights demonstrators as the latter attempted to force their way into a private "cafeteria" which presumably had refused to serve black people. The legend below the image states that a "mysterious tossing of a bottle of irritating liquid" had sent 12 troopers and 8 demonstrators to hospitals for treatment was being investigated as the bottle contained "mustard oil gas" according to one doctor. On the reverse there is a date stamp: "Mar 22 1965". Overall VG++ condition although the photograph is very slightly browned on back. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommission from the Seattle Times Library.

17.5 x 23.5cm, b/w vintage AP Wire press photograph printed in 1959. The image is of two white policemen politely taking two white women (presumably segregationists) into custody after a white protest in favour of segregation got out of hand and the crowd tried to "push through police lines." The legend notes "four people were arrested .. (and)... five in the crowd were injured." On the reverse there is a AP copyright stamp and hand written title in ink and a date stamp: "Aug 14 1959". Overall VG+ condition although the photograph is very slightly browned on back. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommissioned from the Seattle Times Library.

18 x 21cm, b/w vintage AP Wire press photograph printed in 1957. The image shows eight out of the nine black students who had to be daily escorted into Central High School by State Troopers after a successful court battle leaving the school in the evening on the way to the Army Station Wagon that transported them daily to and from the educational facility. There is a newspaper clipping on the back of the photograph showing the same image and a short legend which is glued down and hand written size measurements for a paste-down and several date stamps: "Oct 3 1957". Overall VG+ condition although the photograph is slightly rippled and there is a repaired torn area on the left which is approx 2 x 0.75cm. Bottom of the photograph is torn neatly to remove a previous legend. Provenance: part of a group of press photographs decommissioned from the Seattle Times Library.
