Dublin: Temple Bar Outside Visual Arts, 2000

15 x 15cm, 8pp. Promotional programme / announcement for the Irish Premiere of Cremaster 2 which was shown outdoors in the Meeting House Square. Two colour images (Norman Mailer as Harry Houdini and the cowboy line dancers) and short texts. Mailer was in part chosen, of course, as an actor in the film due to his original book The Executioner's Song about Gary Gilmore - and Barney's film is, in part, a consideration about Gilmore's decision to be shot by the state as an attempt to be allowed to enter his Mormon heaven as he believe such an execution counted as a blood atonement. Amazing logic but there again this was a religious person who had murdered two people so why expect reason. Fine! Fine.

Amsterdam: CultClub Editions, 2020 32 x 23 x 5cm red cardboard clamshell box content of c. 60 unnumbered and unbound sheets including one object multiple (a plastic bottle with printed label). Silver ribbon. A supposed "exhibition in a box" with reproduced and original contributions by Tinkerbell, Marina Abramovic, Ay-o, Matthew Barney, Tracey Emin, Valie Export, AL Hansen, ALison Knowles, Shigeko Kubota, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Pieter Mol, Charlotte Moorman and NAm June Paik, Otto Muehl, Orlan, Willem De Ridder, Niki de Saint Phalle, Carolee Schneemann, AndresSerrano, Annie Sprinkle, Ulay, Ben Vautier and others. The plastic bottle (meant to contain sanitiser gel) is by Marco Tiberio. One of 25 "silver" examples which were announced as being numbered but we cannot find any numbering in the box. Near fine.

London: Sadie Coles, 2023/2024 38 x 28cm, 64pp (including covers). Artist book and exhibition catalogue issued in London during Barney's major installation Secondary: light lens parallax (there were three others in LA, Paris and New York) . The work is primarily a five channel video based on an American football incident where a player Darryl Stingley was paralyzed after a tackle by Jack Tatum which Barney believes refLects some of the processes he uses in making artworks eg hardening of liquids. The actors and dancers are retired professional American football players. Pages 14 to 53 are in full colour with full page photographs and film stills, the other pages are b/w. Text in English by Barney. VG+.
