18 x 11cm, 244pp. Bound in period leather binding. First edition thus of this collection of poems (1917 - 1952) from the former surrealist and post-war darling of nationalist France. Frontal photographic portrait of the poet in b/w and other illustrations elsewhere in the text.

This copy is augmented by a nice and extensive dedication in blue ink by the ethnologist and linguist Marcel Cohen: "un souvenir pour Jeannette (the second name is hard to read it may be: Anghel? Tenghel? Terghel?) d'un compagnon de lutte du grand Eluard Marcel Cohen" and then, additionally, signed in blue ink by the dada-ist Tzara and another dedication above in an unknown hand which reads "En souvenir de ces grands jours de lutte, des communards aux resistants, de belles et glorieuses pages de l'histoire proletarienne paris ce 5/6/55" and the hard to read signature of "Muro(?) des Fedines".

This was Eluard's last book published in his lifetime as the poet died in November of 1952 from heart problems. One small area of damage (a minor loss of the binding) to the top of the spine of the leather binding (the missing piece is retained for repair) which is also split down the edge for about 2cm otherwise VG. Unique association copy.

First edition of this clandestinely written (1942) appreciation that was not published until immediately after the war - a dissection of Eluard's surrealist and dada work. There is a reproduction of a Valentine portrait of Eluard as frontispiece and hors text a b/w photograph of the poet. One of numbered 550 copies on velin de Lyon aside from 35 deluxe copies. Very good + with minor fading to spine.

19 x 14.5cm, unpaginated (c. 84pp) plus original wrappers. Thirsty full page lithographs after drawings by Valentine Hugo. Second edition although first thus with Hugo's illustrations of Eluard''s Dada-period cycle of poems. Hugo and Eluard worked together on a number of books during the late 30s and 40s of which this was one of the first. Fine condition. Scarce.

21 x 16cm, 38pp. original printed wrappers. First edition of this short text work by the authors with illustrations by Valentine Hugo hors texte. An unnumbered copy from the edition. Very good with only some minor browning to paper.

A complete run. Uniformly, 13.6 x 18cm. approx 88 pp each respectively. Original wrappers, each with uniform cover design by Picasso. Text contributions by Louis Aragon, Georges Bataille, Rene Char, Paul Colinet, Lise Deharme, Paul Eluard, Xavier Forneret, Georges Hugnet, Max Jacob, Michel Leiris, Jean Paulhan, Francis Ponge, Jacques Prevert, Raymond Queneau, Jean Paul Sartre, Tristan Tzara, et al. There is also a 1pp text on George Hugnet by Francis Dumont and a booklist of Eluard's publications. An uncut example. Not often encountered.<br /><br />

14 x 11cm, 6pp (folded single sheet). Exhibition catalogue and announcement brochure for the title collaboration where Flocon created twelve etchings for the book (and a cover and frontispiece) all of which were to be exhibited at the gallery. Three page text by Pierre de Massot on the work. Fine.

19 x 14,5cm, 72pp. Printed wrappers. First edition of this Surrealist poet and artist's first book. One of just a few hors commerce examples (hand marked H. C.) on vellum issued (there were 300 additional copies to complete the edition).

Eluard's preface is fortuitous, as to Penrose's later on site explorations of Eastern philosophies. A fine example. Scarce.

Texts by Eluard (Autobiographie d'Henri Rousseau). - Jakovsky (Gentil Rousseau - Fac-simile d'une lettre adressee a Ambroise Vollard and Apollinaire (Souvenir du douanier)). One of 125 numbered examples on velin d'Arches ("du tete"). Foxing apparent on cover and some pages else VG.

29.3 x 21.5cm, 136pp. A rare copy of the important book 'Nemoguce - L'Impossible' from 1930 - the almanac/manifesto of the 13 strong Serbian surrealist group.  This was the first publication of this manifest (which was later reprinted in part in the first edition of 'La surrealisme au service de la revolution' in Paris). Breton, Eluard, Peret, Aragon, Char and Therion also gave contributions to this extremely important, defining, publication.

The Serbian contributors and signatories to this manifesto document included Aleksandar Vuco, Oskar Davico, Milan Dedinac, Mladen Dimitrijevic, Vane Zivadinovic - Bor, Zivanovic - Noe, Đordje Jovanovic, Đordje Kostic, Dusan Matic, Branko Milovanovic, Koca Popovic, Petar Popovic and Marko Ristic.

Some wear to spine on both sides and minor paper loss around edges, surface paper loss to spine affecting spine title, some evidence of water damage in the past especially on rear wrappers but internally mostly very good although a few of the last pages have underlines and markings in pen. Priced accordingly but very rare in any condition.

19.8 x 13.5cm. 16pp. Original wrappers. Letterpress. First Polish language edition of Breton and Eluard's critical Surrealist poetic manifest 'Notes sur la Poesie' (Paris, 1936). An unusually fine example of this rare document.

18 x 13cm, 157 pages plus original wrappers and dj. First edition of Eluard's collected poems in Czech accompanied by 4 b/w illustrations, including 3 full page plates by Picasso, Man Ray and Styrsky; Man Ray's frontispiece is a portrait of Eluard. Styrsky's contribution is an original collage. The dust jacket has an original colour design by Karel Teige. Internally near fine, the dust jacket has minor chipping at top and bottom but overall a very good + copy of this scarce book.
