First edition of this series of 15 poetic-portraits based on well known personalities from the salon La Maison des Amis des Livres: characters which included Jules Romains, Fargue, Paul Valery, Gide, Francis Jammes, Larbaud, James Joyce, Durtain, Claudel, Jacques Benoist-Mechin, Sylvia Beach and Marie Monnier.

This copy is one of only 15 numbered copies (the du tete) on fil Lafuma aside from 3 deluxe copies on Hollande, 300 ordinaire copies on verge and 39 copies hors commerce (total edition). Additionally this copy is dedicated by Monnier at the half-title to Jacqueline Fontaine "en signe de grande amitie" and dated "Avril 1923". Very slight browning to the wrappers and internal edges but otherwise very good. Rare.

Announcement brochure for the avant garde journal supported by Andre Salmon, Gino Severini, Jean Cocteau, James Joyce, Rachilde and others mostly of the right wing /patriotic persuasion (an extensive list of supporters is reproduced here). The brochure is mostly notable for a reproduced 3pp text of a speech given by Gabriel Boissy in honour and in the presence of the Futurist Marinetti. Elsewhere there is an announcement of a fundraising ball (as the Friends were losing 500 francs a week according to the notice) and also a salon in honour of Alexandre Guinle with the participation of Paul Valery amongst others and a short festival of Czech cinema. Very good and partially uncut if previously horizontally folded.
