15.8 x 12cm, 104pp plus original wrappers. First French edition, one of 950 copies on velin de rives, from a total of 1,000 copies (50 numbered examples were on Japon). A mostly very good + copy of this poetic novella although there is some wear and tear down the spine which requires regluing.

21.5 x 13.4cm, 87pp. Original wrappers designed by Aldof Hoffmeister. First Czech edition of this 'digest' version of the Surrealist's Le Negre (1927), as translated by the Devetsil artist Adolf Hoffmeister, who also contributes the cover design. Some minor wear to wrappers, one small brown stain to front cover (1.3cm dia. approx.)  else a very good and partly unopened copy. Rare thus.

19 x 13cm, 52pp plus original wrappers. Frontispiece (which was also used by Eluard and Breton in  "Les Animeus et Leurs Hommes" and 4 illustrations in the text by Chagall: in fact THE very first book illustrated by the artist.

One of Soupault's most important collections of poems, created at the cusp of his transitional Dada to Surrealism phase. One of 1,000 copies on alfa asIde from 80 du tete copies. Fine estate. Very scarce.

19.4 x 14.4cm, 120pp. Original wrappers. The 'stated' second issue (of 120 copies), following (about three months before) the first edition of 180 examples. Produced in late 1919, while both authors were engaged in the Parisian Dada adventure. This work was directly influenced by their crucial (to the Surrealist family tree that is)re-reading of Lautremont's 'Chants de Maldoror' and 'Poesies'; the latter which Breton had copied out by hand from the (then) only known copy of the first edition deposited in the Bibliotheque Nationale.

'Les Champs Magnetiques' is (traditionally) considered to be the inaugural Surrealist text collection, as it embodies the later movement's automatic/mediumistic methodology. Chronologically, this is Breton's second published book and Soupault's third. Some minor wear to wrappers, typical internal browning (owing to stock quality), else a very good example of this landmark work. Rare in both first and second editions.

27 x 21cm, 1pp black on white. Collective tract written on the acceptance by Saint-John Perse of the Nobel Prize for literature. Signed by Breton, Gracq, Paulhan, Ponge, Soupault and Ungaretti. Formerly folded and with some browning along the fold otherwise very good.

21.2 x 14cm, 8pp. An open letter from the Belgium group in support for the beleaguered artist Roger van de Wouwer who was being prosecuted for obscenity by the ministry of Justice following an exhibition in the Galerie La Proue. Cover of the pamphlet reproduces a sculpture by de Wouwer of a headless and armless torso wearing a bloody sanitary towel. Signed by Marcel Marien, and Philip Soupault amongst others, Fine.<br />
