Paris: Edition Galerie Lawrence, n.d. (1961)

18.6x13.6cm, 54pp plus card covers and original yellow publisher's publicity bandeau with a text by Pierre Restany.

The true first edition of this famous and important artist's book where on 17 October 1961, Daniel Spoerri noted with a small drawing all of the items found on a table after a meal in his hotel room on the rue Mouffetard in Paris. Each item was then described and annotated with background information as to how it turned up on the table as best Spoerri knew.

Later editions of this book further expanded the information known about the items (with the help of Robert Filliou, Roland Topor and Emmett Williams and even added drawings, photographs and editioned material.

Copies of the first edition of this book are already hard to find but with the bandeau in such near fine condition - this is rare. Fine in like yellow wrapper.

Paris: Galerie Collete Allendy, 1956

19.5 x 9.5, 4pp. Announcement leaflet / card printed red and black on white letterpress on thick paper with the important early critical text by Pierre Restany - LA MINUTE DE VERITE (The Moment of Truth) - this is the ultra rare announcement leaflet for Klein's first exhibition in the Allendy Gallery (before moving to Iris Clert) and the first extensive showing of his monochrome paintings in Paris (after an earlier show in 1955 of a smaller number of works).

This was Klein's fourth ever solo show in a gallery. There is a circling of part of the text (the date and time of the exhibition) and some soft creases but else is in VG condition. An exceptionally rare document.

Bruxelles: Palais des Beaux-Arts, 1967
21 x 15cm, 16pp self cover, stapled. B/w exhibition catalogue with 11 works by Broodthaers' reproduced including the reproduction of the corrected (by MB) misprint of the artist's name that so caught his attention in an early gallery publication soon after he famously considered that "perhaps I too could sell something and be successful in life.". Two page text by Pierre Restany. A very scarce early document in fine condition.
