London: Centre for Advanced Creative Study, October/Novermber 1964

51 x 34cm, 24pp (self cover). The first ever number of this gallery based art journal and exhibition catalogue - directed by Paul Keeler and edited by David Medalla - each number was illustrated throughout with many articles, reviews and exhibition information . At the beginning of the sixties, Asian artist Medalla helped found the Centre for Advanced Creative Study in London (later renamed Signals London) which was dedicated to experiments in art and science. The Centre soon became the site for a series of large-scale shows of experimental and kinetic art, and eventually published 11 numbers (including doubles) of the periodical. This double number was devoted mostly to articles and images of the work of the sculptor Takis (Greece) as well as poetry in his honour by Alan Ansen, Hugo Williams and the artist's only poetric works in his facsimile hand. William Burroughs also has a short text on the artist here. Victor Musgrove writes a short column on art. The front cover has some scuffs minorly affecting text (see image) and the publication is folded twice for storage else VG. All issues of Signals are now scarce.
