London: Institute of Contemporary Art/Jay Joplin, 1991
26 x 21.5cm, unpaginated (68pp)) plus card covers. Exhibition catalogue for Hirst's major show at the ICA curated by Joplin and with a text by Charles Hall as well as an 'dialogue' by Sophie Calle with Hirst - the former having met the YBA and having asked him to write to her an erotic love letter despite he having only then met her. Hirst did this and Calle hints that the letter was not disappointing to her. There are 29 works by Hirst reproduced most full page and in colour. This is one of ONLY 250 numbered and signed copies released at the time and is in fine condition.

Given Hirst's book editions since have mostly had limitations in excess of 1,000 copies then this is especially scarce. Fine apart from a slight print flaw where some of the yellow embossing ink has smeared over the left of the front cover (a faint mark that looks much worse than it is in the photograph here) and a few very small scuffs on the back cover that do not detract.
ADDED:
A 2pp A4 handout from the show which reproduces some correspondence between Calle and Hirst - therein, Hirst asks Calle to interview him for the book but Calle declines Hirst's offer in the letters, but says "perhaps you could ask yourself questions that I would have asked you, in an interview".

PRICE IS FOR BOTH ITEMS TOGETHER

Paris: Journal Liberation du mardi 2 Aout 1983 (#684)
38 x 29 cm, original artist's publication (29pp, consisting of 1/3rd of each page each illustrated with a single photograph by the artist) to be found within the pages of the national French newspaper Liberation. The text relates diary entries arising from a found address book belonging to 'Pierre D.' and the connections made from this chance find. With a 1pp companion explanatory text in French by Christian Caujolle. Obviously the original edition size was enormous but most would have been discarded. Slight bump to the overall shape of the journal but otherwise very good.
