A COLLECTION OF 1,339 COLOUR TRANSPARENCIES WITH IMAGES OF OTHER ARTIST’S WORKS (“ARTISTIC REFERENCES”) TAKEN BY COLLINS. 1980 – 1987.

A collection of 1,339 different 5 x 5cm colour transparencies taken and processed by Collins from 1980 to 1987. The images are all of works by other artists in exhibition. On many of the plastic holders Collins has written “artistic references” suggesting he used these images as influences in his work.

All are in original plastic slide holders. All are dusty and the plastic holders are often grubby but the slides themselves are almost all in VG to VG+ condition. A comprehensive collection of the artist’s photographic practice and his source material for many paintings and some photographic works found in his archive at the time of his death.
