A FEAST TO CELEBRATE. 1995. HAND SIGNED MENU OBJECT FROM LAUNCH DINNER – UNOPENED WITH CURRY SAUCE LABEL!

A menu with “tandoori” seal distributed for the launch of the Atlas Press edition of An Anecdoted Typography of Chance. This copy is uniquely dedicated to James Birtch by Dieter Roth in the latter’s handwriting. The menu lists a curry meal and the “tandoori” seal is a piece of paper which prevents the menu from being opened and has been stained with what may well be curry sauce. Inside the menu (if one pulls the card apart carefully so not to break the seal) is a further small artwork which may be a tipped on red drawing, lithograph or most likely a rubber stamping of a salt shaker which appears to be in Roth’s style: the image is hard to identify without opening the menu and breaking the seal – which is probably the intent. Fine condition and obviously unique thus within the limited release.
