The text here is “I would rather be good than clever” and is taken from “Who Did Which?
or, Who Indeed?” by Ogden Nash that ends:

Gently my eyelids close;
I’d rather be good than clever;
And I’d rather have my facts all wrong
Than have no facts whatever.
