Fourteen vintage photo-postcards ie original photographic duotone prints with wide margins – all 9 x 14cm approx either in landscape or portrait format, 1pp. Released to promote the two Weimar Republic films made by the Austrian silent filmmaker Fritz Lang based on the epic poem Nibelungenlied. The films: Die Nibelungen: Siegfried and the second film: Die Nibelungen: Kriemhild’s Rache (trans. The Nibelungen: Kriemhild’s Revenge) were co-written by Lang’s wife Thea von Harbou and starred Paul Richter as Siegfried, Margarete Schon as Kriemhild and Hanna Ralph as Brunhild.
Lang went on to direct the famous Metropolis. The images display the central characters and several fantasy scenes from the films including several showing Seigfried’s killing of a dragon.
Some minor surface and edge wear to all, with two cards displaying soft creases in centre and one card with album marks in corners, otherwise all in amazingly good condition. A very scarce period collection.
