A VOIX DE PAUL ELUARD. 1950s?,

£95.00

Paris: la Chant du Monde, n.d. (early 1950s?)
Standard 7inch, 45rpm record with 5 poems by Eluard read by the poet himself: 15minutes and 43 seconds of Courage /Aujourd’hui /Liberte /L’amour, la mort, la vie and Dominique Aujourd’hui presente. Slightly browned sleeve and a few creases on the original glassine inner sleeve but otherwise very good+. A portrait of Eluard by Picasso is reproduced on the b/w sleeve. The record was issued as part of a series of poet’s recordings at a time when Eluard’s wartime nationalistic writings were regarded with great pleasure by a nation recovering from occupation and he himself (unlike many of the surrealists) was fated for staying to resist the Nazis and not run to the USA. Scarce.
