Gorebridge/Toronto: Show & Tell Editions/Micah Lexier, 2020
Unique artist’s book customised for the purchaser based on her or his instructions. The “zine” consists of a repeated graphic of a hand holding a pencil, inkjet-printed on a 140 x 216mm page. One image is on each page. Typical is 16pp but is sometimes more.
On each page Lexier writes a single word in pencil with the end of that word touching the end of the “pencil”.
The play between the hand-drawn word and the printed image is what makes these drawings work.
The pages will be bound together with two staples to create a small zine.
Each zine is at least 16 pages.
Each zine is packaged in a simple white cardboard box that also has a personalised hand/pencil drawing on the cover.
The inside lid of the box is signed and dated in pencil by the artist.
The handwritten text can be personalised to include your name or someone else’s name if you decide you wish to dedicate this zine – hence a “A ZINE FOR YOU”
