ARMAN ACCUMULATIONS RENAULT. 1970.

£25.00

Paris: Union Centrale des Arts Decoratifs, n.d. (1970)

22.5 x 21cm, 80pp. Card covers. Exhibition catalogue dedicated to Arman’s work with the Renault car company where various automobile spare parts were “accumulated” by the artist to create various artworks. Forty-two b/w illustrations after works throughout, ten full pages in colour. Texts by the artist.

The most complete documentation of this intense period of work by the nouvelle realiste which perhaps more than any other “pop” period artwork really did identify clearly with the values and mechanisms of industrial mass production (although one could equally claim Arman was selling out by producing art for the requirements of a multi-national). Some random surface scores to back cover which have not torn the card and a former price sticker has left a small mark on the front but otherwise a very good and an useful reference to the &”commercialised” works of that period.
