NYC: Fluxus, 1971
5 x 5 x 5cm, plastic two part box joined by plastic hinges on side content of a mirror and engraved on the top the text “BOX OF SMILE”. This is a vintage copy of this well known multiple issued by Maciunas as part of his Fluxus project. The work being the act of opening the container causing the person to see his/her own reflection, and completes the piece with his smile. Exceptionally difficult to get an original example. The plastic on the bottom of the box has minor yellow cracks and there is another crack on the back of the box (hinge size) but it is not affecting opening or the integrity of the box. Printing on the top of box minorly faded to the right, Vintage example of this work are now extremely hard to find in any condition.
