Heidelberg: Edition Staeck, n.d. (1992)
84 x 59.5cm, full colour offset with an image of a pile of rubbish and a text ” DER GROSSTE SCHWINDEL SEIT DER FARBE GRUN” that translates to “THE BIGGEST SCANDAL SINCE THE COLOUR GREEN”. The print was designed by Staeck to protest what he saw as a fraudulent publicity campaign to pretend that major corporations were recycling material (the Grune Puckt symbol being added to packaging to suggest this. The poster garnered the attention of the »Firma Duales System Deutschland für Abfallavoidance and Secondary Raw Material Production Ltd. (DSD)« who owned the copyright on the symbol and threatened Staeck with a fine of DM200,000. Staeck refuted this and after some correspondence between lawyers, the FDSFA dropped their claim. A major victory for the artist. VG+.
