EDITION BLOCK BERLIN. 1981.

Berlin: Rene Block, 1981

16.5 x 21cm, printed plastic ring folder content of 44 different 10.5 x  15cm, mostly 1pp (some are fold out other 2pp) promotional leaflets each for a different edition or portfolio. All the major Block artists are here – Beuys, Paik, Filliou, Koepcke, Opalka, Horn, Roth, Hamilton, Palermo, Polke, Richter, Vostell and others. There is an additional 8pp short essay in German and English by Rene Block and also a list of the exhibitions and bibliography.

This is a catalogue that was on sale during an exhibition of the editions at the Edinburgh City Arts Centre (when that building had interesting shows that weren’t just about bringing income)  coordinated with Rene Block by Richard Demarco – and there is a blue 5.7 x 15cm, 1pp blue leaflet noting this.

This is in very good condition but annoyingly there are contemporary handwritten notes by a critic on many pages (he notes that Filliou has poor drawing skills!) – we suspect we know which particular Scottish critic this is (a man who once misidentified a Man Ray in my collection for Duchamp) but if we said we would just be being snide.
