FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THE MAKING OF THE DIAMOND SKULL. 2007. ONE OF ONLY A FEW SIGNED COPIES

£495.00

London: Other Crieria/White Cube, 2007
25 x 17cm. 78pp. Cloth covered boards with pictorial dj. Exhibition catalogue. Hirst’s record of the making of his multi-million pounds diamond encrusted sculpture. Despite the terrible “cashing in'”on his success, the ridiculously large edition sizes and multiple-versions of prints available after every new exhibition and the mass production of works on the most popular themes (butterfly paintings, pharmacy works, spot paintings) by using assistants there is a great artist at the heart of the capitalist enterprise that sometimes resembles Damien Hirst PLC. This copy is as usual a very expensive item (having been priced thus on release) as one of very few official copies released by the publisher signed on the title page in felt tipped pen – and dealers such as ourselves are culpable in keeping the prices high as no-one sells for less than was paid for the item. But we do feel guilty in that price conspiracy. Nonetheless, despite our personal shame, the price remains as here. Fine example.
