GLASS SHELF. c. 1995. PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY ILEANA SONNEBAND.

75 x 13 x 7.5cm. Unique work created from a broken wine glass that has been preserved in a roughly made enclosed glass “shelf” with shards of misshapen glass glued together using plastic adhesive. Previously owned by Ileana Sonnabend this seems to have been a gift with the broken glass being preserved forever inside the deliberately poorly made glass shelf/cabinet. Typical of the artists’ interest in archeology and the preservation of false histories – it is easy to make a false guess about how this artwork may have arisen. Unsigned but purchased at auction with auctioneer’s documentation of previous ownership.
