Bucuresti: Editura Librariei & “Universala” Alcalay & Co., n.d. (1937)
20 x 13cm, 232 pp. Original wrappers. The first edition of this novel written by the surrealist Max Blecher (1909-1938) who was later often referred to as the “Romanian Kafka”. The title translates as “Scarred Hearts”.
This example has some minor condition issues – the wrappers are tired around the edges and somewhat grubby with a few stains, the spine has deteriorated at the bottom with some paper loss and the book has been signed by a former owner on the first blank page but internally this is in very good+ condition and solid. Very scarce.
