Kleve: Bösmann Druckerei, 1963
20 x 20cm, 50pp plus printed red cardboard wrappers. This is the first ever exhibition catalogue of the work of Beuys which displayed over 280 works from the Van der Grinten collection. Twenty-four works are reproduced in b/w full page and all the works are listed – the earliest being from 1947 soon after Beuys was able to return to civilian life. The first title page has some red staining along the sides of the sheet from the covers (the red cardboard was heavily dyed and the colour easily leeches) and there is a printed “Ex Libris” (Martha Laugs) on the inside front cover but else VG+. This is a scarce book – of which 500 numbered copies were printed. The name of Beuys is printed as “Josef” but later of course it was more usually “Joseph”.
