LA LOI DU 29 JUILLET 1881, OU “LE LYRISME A LA SAUVETTE”. 1957. THE FIRST SIGNS OF DECONSTRUCTED TEXTS.

£125.00

Paris: Galerie Colette Allendy, 1957
22.5 x 14.3cm., 2pp. Announcement card with gallery details verso and recto a typographic design by the artists (cut up and re-pasted down text utilising the title of the exhibition). This was the very first exhibition in which these fragmentary text pieces were shown and were a logical culmination of the decollage techniques the pair produced (along with a young Vostell) in the 1940s – thereafter nouveau realisme appeared taking popular sources (such as found on commercial posters) as the subject matter. The title of the exhibition was taken from the French law prohibiting the display of certain posters. Fine and rare.
